Beattie Home recently made a purchase with the generous grant money that the Ōtorohanga Charitable Trust approved. These purchases included a portable Luna overhead lifting hoist ($3766), a Luna Trolley ($1557) and a wall mounted charger ($439). This is to assist Beattie Home in their move to provide hospital level care, as well as rest home care. This will mean the hoist can be used over three rooms, providing hospital level care for 3-6 people. Many thanks for your grant of $2500, which contributed to the $6,626.30. THANK YOU! Since starting with the first school holiday workshops in April 2024 the ŌCC has offered 16 kids workshops and run 13 including 2 clay workshops, tee printing, abstract art, creating a secret money box, led jar, watercolour artworks, felt tip creations, collage, silhouette art etc. Adult/Teen classes we have offered 15 classes or workshops ranging from 3 hours to 8 weeks, of those 12 ran. Workshops offered included photography, mahi raranga Maori weaving, pastel art, clay/pottery x 3, abstract art, movement therapy in Spanish, Tai Chi & art, vision boarding, drawing, pressed flowers, animation and life drawing. We have had 12 different tutors wanting to share their skills & passions with our community – 5 from Ōtorohanga, 1 from Cambridge, 1 from Hamilton, 3 from Te Awamutu, and 1 from South Auckland. None of this would have been possible without the support of Elevate (previously known as Ōtorohanga District Development Board) and the funding of Trust Waikato, Ōtorohanga Charitable Trust and the Ōtorohanga District Creative Communities Fund Creative New Zealand.

The CACTUS program is an 8 week military style program that challenges students physically and mentally. The program helps to build student’s confidence and a personal belief that they can achieve what they work hard at. The core values of the CACTUS program are commitment, attitude, confidence, team work, unity and success. These values are installed and cultivated in students over the 8 weeks, with the support of experienced mentors passionate about the Ōtorohanga community. How lucky are our children to have access to a program like this in our community, and become valued members of their community. Was great to support this with a grant.

Thrive Trust were able to purchase these climbing harnesses, and they are now proudly hanging by the rock-climbing wall, ready for use!

We supported the Ōtorohanga Museum with funding for these custom-made archive boxes. They will be used to safeguard the 1.5 million negatives from the Richard & Ruve Wallace Collection.

The Truck and Ute Show in Ōtorohanga is an event that showcases a variety of trucks and utes, often featuring custom vehicles, modified models, and classic designs. It's a popular gathering for car enthusiasts, where attendees can admire the vehicles on display, meet like-minded individuals, and enjoy a community-focused atmosphere. The event also include music, food vendors, and other entertainment, making it a fun day for families and vehicle fans alike.
